Doing! Wet Paint! Letting go of the results and just making!

Some days I spend minutes in my studio. Some days hours. It is set up and ready for anytime I have the opportunity I can do work. I must be ready for any opportunity in my studio and in the great out there. Open and willing!

“Play Is The Work of the Child” Maria Montessori
I need to play more while making! Play more is a good intention.

I read that in one of my morning mediations today. And realized how much that statement pertains to my life. In really BIG and very small ways. I like that … FAITH beyond the now.

I have to remember that effort is doing. Not wishing, wanting, thinking, imagining, expecting, inactivity.
Every morning I walk into my studio and write what inspires be today. Then I do something. Usually it’s add some marks or color to my weekly #PaintSundayColors. That gets me started for the day. Now I am a doer not just a berer.

I have spent a lot of time in my studio creating, making with my hands daily. What a gift it is to create!

During “stay at home” I’m trying to learn new things. I’m generally a Learner for Life and always trying to learn new things in my studio. Now I’m opening books, sampling new techniques, using dusty supplies, learning to do things better. I’m lucky to have a fabric stash and a sewing machine. Learning to make a better, more comfortable mask!

I just texted this to my classmates-
One thing I need to do more of is write down what and why I’m painting. Some paintings are to try new skills. Most are just Oh I like this…. with no real plan. I think it would help my painting a lot if I wrote, before, during, after.
I need to discover what and why I’m painting.

It’s a snow day!! Perfect day to paint warm & bright in my studio!
