Action

… just do it!

I MUST do the action. A painting doesn’t get painted by just thinking about it. I have to put wet paint to canvas to get any tangible results. Thinking, planning, mulling over all have there place, then I need action!

Share

… like the petals of this flower – it just keeps going round and round.

Be not afraid of growing slowing, be afraid only of standing still. — Chinese proverb

That how I feel about sharing. Don’t be afraid to share, just throw it out to the universe with no expectations. Be afraid of keeping it to myself, whatever it may be.

Guidance

… from books!

I have a great library of technique books. Often I just bang my head against the wall trying to think of something/someway to paint. Grasping for my visual vocabulary. I need to pull out my books more often. That might be my summer “intention” – Look at more books, try new things from them!

Habit

… daily walk to the mailbox.

I’m a creature of habit. Good daily habits are something I strive toward. I’m not sure I’m enjoying some of them as much as I’d like. Some have become mechanical and rote. I want to relax more, look around and notice these beautiful flowers while walking to get the mail. Be more present in my daily life. That is a habit to aspire.

Effort

… is doing.

I have to remember that effort is doing. Not wishing, wanting, thinking, imagining, expecting, inactivity.

Every morning I walk into my studio and write what inspires be today. Then I do something. Usually it’s add some marks or color to my weekly #PaintSundayColors. That gets me started for the day. Now I am a doer not just a berer.
